This is a great question! So, plastics themselves are very useful and we use them a lot. There are the obvious uses, such as plastic bottles and packaging, but also some things you might not think such as in shampoo, clothes, paints and computers.

We do not want to use a lot of plastic, because when we want to throw them away they stay around for a long time and can end up in the oceans or forests, this is very bad. However, if we use a little bit of plastic in paint we can protect buildings, bridges, fences from getting damaged. This stops us from having to make more metal, which is bad for the environment, to make new buildings and bridges.

However, paint is still not perfect and I am trying to find new and more environmentally friendly ways to make paint!
