So I work with students who are at University and in the last year of their studies, they do a small project with one of the researchers in the school. They do their own work, and they are not there just to help me, but they do help all of us in the lab keep clean and tidy. I have worked with lots of students, helping them get better at doing research.

We quite often have students from the university come to do a project in our lab. Sometimes the project they are doing is helpful for my work but just as often I’m actually the one helping them because its their first time in a research lab. I like having them around because its nice to help someone with their first big research project and its really useful having an extra person to help me plant and look after my plants because that takes a long time when its just me.

We also had some work experience students come in from a local secondary school, that was pretty fun because we got to show them the cool stuff rather than just what we do day to day.

This time of year we have a lot of students in our lab as they have to do their own project. In the summer we also have students help us and they get paid for this work. We also sometimes have secondary school students visit us during the year for work experience. It is great having new faces in the lab and helping them learn new things.
