• Question: WHY DO YOU KILL BEES!?

      Occasionally, I may have to kill some bees, but this is something that is only done when necessary and if I need to look at the gene expression of certain immune genes (you have to extract the RNA from them) or check if the fungus I’m using on them does any harm (if it did I wouldn’t use it again!) and then check it also kills the parasitic mite which causes them harm. It’s not always nice but occasionally scientists may have to kill the organism they study but ultimately it’s only a very small number!
