      Great question! So I had to look this one up for you as I wasn’t sure of the answer myself! What I found out is the the difference is the way that they are used, this is called combustion. Petrol is combined with air before being ignited with spark plugs in a engine, with diesel, the air is compressed (made smaller) and then the diesel is injected into the engine.
